attorney is licensed to practice both by the PTO and their
respective state. A patent agent is not an attorney, and
is simply licensed to practice before the PTO. Patent agents
are not trained
to analyze patent law and are not licensed to give legal
opinions regarding patent matters. Analyzing your patent's
scope and meaning is a legal undertaking. Accordingly, we
recommend using a patent attorney to draft it.
